MSBA

Additional Volunteers Needed For MSBA Regional Championship

Once again we are in need of volunteers for the Mid-States Band Association (MSBA) competition taking place on our campus Saturday, November 4th.

As before, we cannot pull off an event of this magnitude without the help of every single band family. This is another important event for our program, community, and most importantly the students who benefit from its success. These are a few of the many reasons we include it as a parent volunteer requirement in our Commitment & Financial Agreement Form.

Below you will find a list of the links to sign up for each volunteer area.  Job descriptions can be found there as well.  Presently we have about 49 volunteers slots still to fill.

More details coming soon on the competition itself and the schedule for the students that day.

Super Regional

Congratulations Marching Band!

Congratulations to the William Mason High School Marching Band on a fantastic performance at the Bands of America Indianapolis Super Regional. The band earned 3rd place during their finals performance out of 66 bands that attended the competition. Please tell your family and friends that there is one more local opportunity to see our band in competition performance on Saturday, November 4th at Mason High School. Details will be coming soon!

Special thanks to everyone who traveled with the band and helped the trip to be successful and run smoothly from start to finish.  As always we cannot provided these opportunities without the support of many.  We are thankful for our Pit Crew, Uniform Crew, Chaperones, Band Aids, Staff, and everyone who watched the performance both in Indianapolis and at home. Special thanks to the entire travel planning team and especially to Shannon Wielinga for coordinating the weekend. We are looking forward to doing it all again in a few weeks for Grand Nationals!!

Portraits

Individual Portrait Package Update!

Individual portrait prints, ornaments, keychains, and magnets will most likely be ready for pick up by students or families after practice Tuesday, October 24, in the stadium. They will also be available for pick up at 7:15 in the MMS Large Commons prior to the Band Booster Meeting on Thursday, October 26.

Please note: group pictures, such as the section photos, the all-band pano, and the accordion books will not be available for pick up until the end of the season, because they are dependent on pictures we take at our competitions.

Smug Mug Photos - Check Them Out!

Our amazing Photo Corps captured some great photos this week!  These photos are available for you to view/download for free from our SmugMug Site. Check out these recent galleries:

Check back often. The photo corps typically tries to get photos uploaded within a week of the event, but with multiple photographers the photos trickle in over that time period.

If you need the password, send an email to smugmug@masonbandboosters.com with your student’s name, student ID and section.

Mental Health

Mental Health Matters To Us

As the season ramps up and the demands of school typically increase, we want to make sure all of our families have access to any mental health or wellness resources they may need. Details can be found in the Marching Band Mental Health Resource Guide  page.  We are also fortunate to be working in partnership with the High School Psychologist, Mr. Schlaeger, who will be serving as our mental health liaison as we travel.  He can be reached at schlaegerj@masonohioschools.com. Thank you to the Langbein family who made this partnership possible through the Jake Langbein Fund. We appreciate their continued efforts to make mental health a priority for our band.

Urgent or Immediate Needs

See Something? Step Up & Say Something!

To help safeguard our school community, our district uses SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, parents and community members to submit safety concerns to our administration four different ways:

  1.   Phone:    513-972-4910
  2.   Text:       513-972-4910
  3.   Email:     1059@alert1.us
  4.   Web:       http://1059.alert1.us

You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, biased-based incidents, drugs, students at risk of self-harm, vandalism or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert. When you submit a tip, be sure to use our district’s identification code: 1059 in your communication.

Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. And, tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer.

Memory Book

Time To Order Marching Band Memory Books

Each year, our talented photo volunteers put together a beautiful memory book filled with the many moments of our season including rehearsals, football games, parades & competitions. This is a beautiful 8.5x11 inch soft cover photo book with about 90 pages. Orders for books without custom pages must be received by January 10, 2024.

You have the option of adding custom pages to your book that you design with your own pictures. The first two custom pages are free, and additional pages are available for a small additional cost. If you choose this option, you agree to have your child’s name and your email address shared with the book company, Tree Ring, so you can personalize the pages in the book associated with your student’s name.

This option is only available for books ordered by this Wednesday, October 25, 2023 and all pages must be finished by January 10, 2024 along with final book orders.
