Responsibilities include marching band prop construction and maintenance, assisting in moving props and the front ensemble on/off the field for performances, organizing the loading/unloading and transportation of props and instruments to/from competitions and managing the truck/bus lots when Mason hosts marching band competitions.  

Our Marching band travels with two tractor trailers which transport all of the instruments, front ensemble, podiums, cologuard equipment, sound equipment, and props.  The pit crew usually arrives 1-2 hours prior to each performance to unload the trailers and is there an hour after each performance reloading the trailers.  If you have ever dreamt about being a roadie with a rock band, then this is the place for you!

This group works countless hours and entails some physical but rewarding work.  Many times, we are some of the last people to see our kids before they march on the field to perform and one of the first to see them after they have completed their performance.
