Coffee Talk

Thanks To Everyone Who Attended The 1st Coffee Talk

Thanks to all the new members who attended our inaugural new member coffee talk this past Tuesday. We hope new members found it to be both informative and fun.  We were happy to begin getting to know many of you and hope you reach out to the board members and parent mentors that were there if you have any questions or need any guidance throughout the band season.  Our next new member coffee talk will be on Tuesday, September 12th. All are welcome!

Concert Band Schedules, Fees, and Attire

This week all concert band students received two acknowledgement forms to be signed by a parent or guardian. The first was a date contract and handbook acknowledgement form. Please be sure to put all the dates on this form on your calendar.  The second form was a class fee and concert attire form.  Please note that concert band fees this year will be collected with other class fees, not separately as in the past.  Fees will be posted on EZPay later in the fall. Information regarding class attire can be found at the following links. Please be sure you click on the link that matches the correct ensemble for your student to ensure you order the appropriate items. If you would like more information, please check the "Course Information" folder on Schoology for your student's concert band class for more details.

OTC

Please Remember To Turn In Forms For OTC Medication

Did you know that our Band Aids maintain a central supply of Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, and Benadryl for students to take if needed during practice? We refer to these as “Central OTC (over the counter) Meds”. We have noticed many students requesting these medications during practice who do not have the proper forms on file to allow us to provide the medications to them. When the forms are not on file we are unable to provide your student with a little bit of relief for muscle pain, headaches, and other minor discomforts.  We recommend submitting DMS forms for Central OTC Meds if your student has ever needed one of these medications in the past. This is especially helpful to students during long practices and overnight trips. Please follow the below steps, if you have not already done so, to make sure your child can have the medications they may need.

  • Please fill out the appropriate Dispensing Medication at School (DMS) Forms found HERE.  A doctor’s signature is required.
  • Upload all completed DMS forms HERE. For tips on how to download the forms please click here.
  • Only submit the DMS forms your student needs; you do not need to submit multiple forms with different dosages for the same medication.
  • Forms must be signed by both a physician and a parent.

For additional details, please refer to the Mason Band Medication Policy found HERE
