DR. MORRIGAN KANE O’BRIEN is an adjunct flute faculty member at Miami University of Ohio and teaches private lessons from her home in West Chester. She has been teaching privately for over 12 years and currently teaches 50 students from the Lakota, Hamilton, Fairfield, Mason, Wyoming, and Finneytown school districts. Her students have received numerous honors and have won chairs in area youth orchestras, honor bands, and Ohio All-State ensembles. Several of her students have gone on to successfully audition for college music performance and education programs.

A 2003 Lakota graduate, Morrigan completed her Bachelor of Music (2007), Master of Music (2008), and Doctor of Musical Arts (2012) degrees in flute performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She frequently plays as a substitute flutist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and various other orchestras in the area. She also performs frequently with local chamber ensembles and as a soloist for special events. Her principal teachers have included Randy Bowman, Dr. Bradley Garner, and Jack Wellbaum. Dr. Kane has won or placed in several national competitions, including the National Flute Association competitions, the Frank Bowen Young Artist Competition, and the Myrna Brown Young Artist Competition.
