Bio

In 2008 Mr. Sleppy joined the band department at Mason City Schools after graduating from Miami University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. As a band director at Mason Middle School for twelve years, Mr. Sleppy had the opportunity to present successful performances at the Ohio Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference in 2013, 2016, and 2020, the Bowling Green Reading Clinic in 2015, and the Music for All National Festival in 2014 and 2018.

 

Mr. Sleppy served as the Assistant Director and Percussion Director for the award winning William Mason High School Marching Band for 10 years, during which the band earned six consecutive Bands of America Grand National Finals appearances, five BOA Regional Championships, and marched in the 2016 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. In 2018 Mr. Sleppy was named the Marching Band Director and is currently in his fifth year in that role. Under his direction the marching band has continued its legacy of success by placing in Finals of the Bands of America Grand Nationals in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022; winning the OMEA Buckeye Invitational in 2019; earning the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Shield in 2022; and receiving an invitation to march in the 2024 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

 

Mr. Sleppy is a member of OMEA/NAfME, is endorsed by Innovative Percussion, Inc., and was awarded Yamaha’s 40 Under 40 Award in 2021. Currently Mr. Sleppy is pursuing his master’s degree in music education from Miami University.
