WHO DEY!  IN HOPES OF A BENGALS VICTORY PARADE!!

To prepare for our performance, we will have a

FULL BAND REHEARSAL on MONDAY, FEB 11, 3pm-5pm.

*Bring warm rehearsal clothes including winter coat, hats and gloves! Although most of rehearsal will be indoors, we will briefly be outside to take a script “WHO DEY!” photo and set up our parade block.

If you have emergency meds,

MED DROP OFF will be MONDAY, FEB 11, 4:30-5:00pm

TRANSPORTATION:

We have contracted Croswell (the same bus company we used for our Super Regional trip) to transport the band to and from the event on charter buses. Yellow school buses Are not an option because our itinerary conflicts with their afternoon routes. In addition, the charters allow us space for instrument transport, restroom facilities, better climate control, and drivers who are experienced moving through downtown amidst crowds.

ATTIRE:

  • We will wear the full Top Gun competition uniform (for guard and band)
  • Students can add underlayers depending on weather.

REPERTOIRE:

  • Hang On Sloopy
  • Tusk
  • Drum Cadences

WHAT IF :

  • Rain Plan (ponchos-we will provide). This will be a rain or shine event!
  • The Bengals Victory Parade will only happen if the Bengals win on Sunday.

--Kansas City Wind Symphony Tour Itinerary

-- All Wind Symphony students should bring their full concert uniform in the provided garment bag to school on Monday to drop off in preparation of the Kansas City trip.  Students should have picked up the garment bags at the concert last Tuesday night.  The garment bags should be packed for the trip to include black dress shoes and all the pieces they need for their concert uniform (e.g. black shirt, pants, belt, tie, vest and jacket or concert dress, pearls, dress shoes, etc).  Garment bags will travel on the charter buses and  will go directly to the performance venue for students to change before the concert.

--Students who are fully vaccinated and plan to use that as their option for the performance venue should have turned in a copy of their vaccination card to Mr.  Protzman.  We will keep a copy with the band during travel so we can quickly share with any venues that require proof and return it to students at the performance venue in Kansas City.

-For those opting to participate in the Pre-Travel Covid-19 rapid test, we will check-out the tests immediately after school this Monday, 2/14,  2:30-2:45. You have a choice to either take the test home, administer there and simply share your results via a google form with us.  The other option is students may take the test Monday afternoon at school and we will provide oversight and simply note the results.   If the test would be positive they would have to follow quarantine guidelines and you would be welcome to secure a separate PCR test to verify those results.  We would accept those results to travel on Thursday.

SAVE THE DATE - CONCERT BAND FESTIVAL MARCH 4-5

On March 4th and 5th, Mason Bands will be hosting the annual Music For All Cincinnati Regional Concert Band Festival at Mason High School.  This event draws bands from across the region who get the chance to perform in front of renowned clinicians and receive feedback on their performance.  Like the marching band competitions, we need many volunteers to make this event a success!  Look for information on volunteer sign-ups in Charms in next week’s band notes!  This is a fun event where you get to meet other parents and help provide a wonderful experience for all of these young, talented musicians!

MARCHING BAND PANO PICKUP - MARCH 5th

For families who ordered Marching Band 2021 Pano photos and did not pick them up last week, they will be available for pickup on Saturday March 5th during the Concert Band Festival event. Specific times will be shared closer to that event.

MHS RECITAL NIGHT

This event is being run in place of OMEA Solo and Ensemble. Please note, 7-9th grade solo and ensemble will not be an option for Mason students, as the timing does not align with our Spring Break. Our Recital Night will serve as our replacement for OMEA going forward. Interested students should have completed their registration last Friday. CLICK HERE for our informational document and registration.

PLANNING FOR AFTER PROM HAS BEGUN!

The band will once again be running the “tattoo shop” during After Prom on April 23rd.  Please contact Kim Bishop at secretary@masonbandboosters.com if you would like to help her create and design a fun experience for our kids.  It is a super fun, low stress volunteer opportunity.  We already have a theme and some general ideas.  This would be perfect for anyone who is creative, artistic, or loves to decorate.  If you are challenged in those areas, we would still love to have you to bounce things off of and to help generate ideas.  Please be on the lookout for more information about After Prom and additional volunteer opportunities coming soon.  Thank you!

JAZZ BAND 1 AND 2 SCHEDULES
