Ticket Drop off/Pick up events this week will be:

  • Tuesday, 9/14 - 8-9:15pm near rehearsal

THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE MUMS SALE!

 

Saturday was the conclusion of our First Annual Mason Band Mums sale and it was a huge success!  The Band raised over $2600 and we look forward to many more years of Mums!  Special thanks to Jennifer Schwartzkopf and Ellen Foss for coordinating and leading this event and to our wonderful volunteers who came out Friday and Saturday to help sort, deliver and distribute the orders!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE DRIVEN TO GIVE EVENT!

Thank you to everyone who came out to drive a beautiful, luxury SUV at our 3rd Annual Driven To Give event in partnership with Lincoln of Cincinnati!  Special thanks to our volunteers who came out to help check in participants,sell raffle tickets, manage cross country, football, basketball, soccer, cheerleading, tennis and band rehearsal traffic and chased parking barriers in the wind!  It was a busy but great day and we look forward to this again next year!  Stay tuned for the total amount raised and DON’T FORGET TO DO THOSE POST DRIVE SURVEYS IN YOUR INBOX!  The band does not get credit for the drive until the surveys are completed.

 

If you signed up for a Virtual drive, you should have received the information via text and email to complete this and should have until the end of the week.  Please make sure you watch the entire 15-minute video and complete the survey and Mason Bands will get $15!

HOME FOOTBALL GAME VS LAKOTA EAST THIS FRIDAY!  

We have another home football game this Friday night vs Lakota East!  Students will wear Summer Uniforms. They should bring their summer uniform with them to school so they can change into it after rehearsal prior to the game.

   

Dinner this Friday is provided by Twin Dragons.  They are generously providing a buffet for students that will feature several chicken dishes, drumsticks, white rice, fried rice, vegetables and desserts.   Food that meets our students’ dietary needs will be available on the buffet and at the special diets table (G-F option, nut-free desserts)  If you have a special dietary need and and have questions, please email Mindy at Travel @Masonbandboosters.com.

HERITAGE FESTIVAL PARADE AND REHEARSAL SCHEDULE FOR THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18TH 

The parade starts at 10am in Downtown Mason and continues toward the Mason Municipal Center.  There is parade viewing along the route and parade entries do a brief presentation at the Municipal Center.   Please plan to come out and enjoy the return of the community parade. 

 

 8:00 -Musician Students arrive at MHS to dress in Competition Uniform 

 8:30 -Guard Students arrive at MHS dressed in M Dress/Makeup

10:00 -March Heritage Day Parade

11:00- Pano and Section Photos at Atrium Stadium 

12:00-12:45 Lunch (On Campus-BYO--Bring or have dropped off) 

12:45-5:00 Rehearsal

 

Musicians will be wearing their competition uniform for the first time.  This includes:   Flight Suit (provided), white t-shirt (provided), Top Gun cap (provided), black socks (provided), black marching shoes, dog tags and aviators.  Dog Tags and aviators were distributed during mini-camp.  Please bring both on Saturday.  We will have extra aviator glasses available Saturday that will stay with the uniform.  If students misplaced their dog tags, the Uniform Crew will collect their name Saturday and we will work to get a new one that will stay with the uniform for the season. 


Students should arrive at school Saturday morning wearing underlayers that allow them to change into the flight suit in public (e.g. wearing close fitting dark shorts or leggings and fitted white tank top for under the t-shirt for girls and as appropriate for boys). Students will change into their uniform at school before the parade and change out of the uniform after section pictures before rehearsal.   New marcher shoes are in their uniform bag.   Returning students who have not brought in their black marching shoes this season should bring them on Tuesday or Thursday to put them in their green uniform bag that will be in the band hallway during rehearsal.

NEXT GENERAL BOOSTER MEETING 9/21 

Please save the date for our next general booster meeting on 9/21 at 6:30pm.  More details coming soon. Note: One person from each family is required to attend as we will be sharing some important information on upcoming events.  This meeting will provide information regarding our upcoming trips, Mason Invitational, and many other things you will not want to miss.  If you absolutely cannot attend, please email president@masonbandboosters.com.

CHAPERONE AND BAND AID LEBANON INVITATIONAL TRAVEL MEETING 

Following the booster meeting on the 21st, Chaperones/Band Aids Traveling with the Band to Lebanon will meet in the staff dining room at 7:30pm.

DINE AND DONATE COMING UP...

Our next Dine and Donate will be at Culver’s on Tylersville on 9/22.  It is valid all day they are open, 10am-10:30pm.  The band will get 10% back of any band-related sales.  This flyer can be handed out in advance to friends, neighbors, etc., they don’t have to be with the band, anyone can use it as long as we don’t pass it out on Culver's premises.  We get credit by either bringing in the flyer or also by just mentioning the band fundraiser to the cashier (flyer isn’t required).  Dine in, drive thru, carry out all counts.

 

LEBANON INVITATIONAL SEPTEMBER 25

Students Report to Campus for Rehearsal:  9:00 am

 

Dismissed after Competition and Return to Mason: Approximately 10:30pm 

 

Throughout the day, students will rehearse and prepare for their first competition  performance of the season.  Students will bring their own lunch and the Band Boosters will provide dinner and snacks.  Students will change into their competition uniforms after rehearsal and wear  their uniforms to the competition.    Students should keep track of their dog tags and aviators as they will be part of their uniform!   

 

Students will travel in yellow buses to this competition and must be masked on the bus.  Eligible students signed up for a bus at rehearsal Saturday.   Students must be in good financial standing and have complete Final Forms including the Covid Vaccine Information to be eligible to travel with the band. 

 

Lebanon has not released exact performance times, but we anticipate Mason will perform near the end of the competition sometime around or after 8pm.   We encourage families to make the quick 25 minute drive to Lebanon High School to see some other great bands and catch Mason’s performance.   We will share ticket information and a more complete student schedule once Mason’s performance time is finalized.  

 

Transportation Waiver:

For this competition, we would prefer students ride the bus home to Mason so they can change out of their uniform on campus.   If you need to pick up your student directly from Lebanon at the conclusion of the competition or your student has approval from a director to meet the band there, you must complete a district-required Transportation waiver no later than Sunday, September 19.

FAMILY SHOWCASE/SENIOR NIGHT OCTOBER 1

More details about the Showcase and Senior events will be shared as we get closer to the event!  Last year was the first time we hosted our own Showcase and Senior Night just for band families, past and present, and it turned out to be a really wonderful and casual event to celebrate our Band and especially, our Seniors!

INDIVIDUAL STUDENT PORTRAITS - SIGN UP COMING SOON

Each year we offer professional individual portraits for our Marching Band students. This year, portraits will be taken on Wed Sept 22nd and Wed Sept 29th from 3:15-8:00 pm. You will have the opportunity to order a portrait package, digital images, and buttons. We will share a form later this week to sign up for your student’s portrait appointment (if you wish to buy a package) and also for those who wish to buy a section and/or full band pano pictures which will be taken on Saturday 9-18 after the parade. Please look for more details this week!

PLEASE KEEP STUDENT PHYSICALS CURRENT ALL SEASON

If your student’s physical expires in Final Forms, they will not be able to participate.  Please pay attention and act when you receive notifications from Final Forms as well as our Registration Coordinator,  Jennifer Weaver.   We are having to invest significant time to track down students and families not keeping up with their physicals.   If your physical expires during the season, your student is not able to participate in Marching Band rehearsals, football games, or events until a current physical with clearance to participate is uploaded. Make sure to download the PPE physician form prior to your student’s annual well check or if you need to get one done quickly,  there are several options nearby such as Kroger Little Clinic, CVS Minute Clinic, etc.  Remember after the physical, you must upload the new physical to Final Forms.
