Dine & Donate

Our next Dine & Donate is this Wednesday, at Jason’s Deli, located at 9660 S Mason-Montgomery Road. Visit between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm, mention you are with the Mason Band Boosters at checkout, and 15% of your meal’s price will be donated back to Mason Band Boosters!

 

MSBA Championships 11/9:  Volunteer Shifts now in Charms!

The MSBA Championship is Saturday, November 9th and we need everyone to volunteer in order to fill all available volunteer spaces! 

 

The competition is currently scheduled from 5-9 pm with Mason tentatively scheduled to perform at 7 pm.  There are volunteer shift opportunities  before, during and after the competition time.

 

As a reminder, every family is required to volunteer for this event.

While we appreciate and are thankful to everyone who sign up to bring hospitality food items to the Invitational, supplying food does not satisfy the mandatory volunteering requirement for the day.

Medication for Grand Nationals

Please read this entire update carefully.

 

Medication Process:

  1. All student medications, both OTC and Rx, are managed and dispensed by our Band Aids. Parents/guardians need to turn in medication along with associated DMS forms prior to travel. 

  2. All DMS forms must be signed by both a doctor and a parent/guardian.

  3. Emergency/rescue medication (such as inhalers and epinephrine) are the only medication that can be carried by students. These medications require a DMS form to be turned in. We recommend you also turn in a back up medication for our Band Aids to carry.

  4. If you turned in medication earlier this season, we will bring it with us when we travel. If you need to ‘refill’ one of these medications, please sign up for Medication Drop Off in Charms.

  5. If your student sees a healthcare professional prior to travel, we recommend that you take a blank DMS form to your student’s appointment in case OTC or Rx meds are needed. http://bit.ly/DMS-Blank

  6. Please make a copy of all forms for your records before you turn them in.

 

Central OTC Medication

We encourage parents/guardians to provide access to our Central OTC medications (ibuprofen, acetaminophen, benadryl) if your student has ever needed one of these medications in the past.  Please consider the 3 days your student will be in the care of the Mason Bands program during a time of excitement, stress, and long rehearsal/performance days. Central OTC symptom relief medication can be an important part of keeping your student feeling their best during this time. 

 

Medication Drop Off Sign Up in Charms:

There will be 2 medication drop off events prior to our trip to Indianapolis. Please sign up in Charms for an appointment during one of these times:

  • Wednesday November 6th from 5-6 pm at Wall to Wall

  • Friday November 8th from 5-6 pm at Wall to Wall

Have you heard about SmugMug (Mason Band’s photo sharing platform) but need a little help getting connected?  Contact Photo Committee Co-Chair Ann Becker at MasonMarchingPhotos@gmail.com with the word SmugMug in the subject line, and your student’s name and band section in the message section to receive customized instructions and a quick link to your SmugMug section so you can see what’s happening as we build up to the grand finale of the marching season!

 

Message from the Uniform Crew

THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who is helping the Uniform Crew this week by laundering either competition uniforms or the top pieces of the Classic uniforms!!! We appreciate your help more than you know!! Both kinds of uniforms are scheduled to be returned Saturday when you drop off your marcher for rehearsal. If you find you have a conflict with Saturday morning, or you have any questions or problems with washing, please contact us at uniforms@masonbandboosters.com

 

Board Elections 

In December, boosters will vote on the volunteer members to serve on the board in 2020.  This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the program.
