THANK YOU MASON BAND AND COLOR GUARD FAMILIES!

Thank you to all of our Band and Color Guard families who voted in the Primary Election and for your support of the MCS Tax Levy.  It was wonderful news in this uncertain time to receive such overwhelming support from our community for our students, schools, and programs. What makes our band and school district such a great place for students is the shared vision of high-quality education and life experiences shared by our families, teachers, administration, and community.

 

 

DRUM MAJOR AND LEADERSHIP TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

You should have received an email on Friday that included the link and login information to the 2020 Marching Band Drum Major and Leadership Team announcement.  If you did not receive the email, please contact secretary@masonbandboosters.com to obtain the login information.  Congrats to our 2020 Drum Majors and Leaders!

 

 

2020 MASON BANDS FLOWER SALE DISTRIBUTION

Details on the Flower Sale Distribution will be emailed to families via Charms later this week and discussed at the Parent Booster meeting that will be held via Zoom this Thursday, May 7th at 7pm.  If you have any questions prior to then, please email  springsale@masonbandboosters.com.



REMOTE BAND MEDICATION PICK-UP, WEDNESDAY, MAY 6 and 13

In a traditional year, medication pick-up is offered  as part of a final concert or mini-camp, but as those are not in-person events this spring, we are offering the opportunity for families to retrieve any concert band medication that we had for students on the Toronto Trip. 

 

To do so, families must sign-up for a time slot in Charms (in the volunteer section) and then we will prepare their medication for porch pick-up from a safe social distance.   We will have the medication available for pick-up from 7-8pm this Wednesday and next.  Details are in charms when you sign-up.   If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mindy at travel@masonbandboosters.com.

 

 

VIRTUAL BAND MEETINGS - THIS THURSDAY, MAY 7

Marching Band Student Meeting - Thursday, May 7th at 6:00PM

There will be a meeting held virtually via Zoom  this Thursday, hosted by the directors to connect with students and to provide more information and answer any questions regarding the upcoming 2020 Marching Band Season.  You should have received the link to the meeting and the login information was sent via email on Friday.  If you did not receive the email, please send a message to secretary@masonbandboosters.com. The login information will be sent again on Thursday, May 7th via Charms Email distribution prior to the meeting. 

 

Band Boosters Parent Meeting - Thursday, May 7th at 7:00PM

Our FIRST Band Booster General Meeting of the calendar year will be this week.  The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom.  A link to the meeting and the login information was sent out via email on Friday along with a message from Mr. Protzman and the Drum Major and Leadership Team announcements.  The agenda for the meeting will be sent out via email prior to the meeting on Thursday and we will resend the login information again for those who may have missed it.  There will be Q&A at the end of this meeting so you can get all of your questions answered by the Directors and/or Band Boosters Board.  Looking forward to connecting with all of you on Thursday!

 

 

FALL COLOR GUARD AUDITION VIDEOS - DUE TODAY!

Audition videos 

Videos have been sent to the students on the Fall 2020 Color Guard Remind Group. All students wishing to audition, need to submit the following 4 videos: #1 and #2 movement and #1 and #2 flag.  Students that want to be considered for Weapon Line, need to submit 6 videos: #1 and #2 flag, #1 and #2 rifle, and #1 and #2 movement.   

 

Submission of Videos

  • Instructions for uploading your videos can be found on the pdf that contained the flag and weapon videos.

  • Videos should be uploaded by TODAY Sunday, May 3rd

  • Results will be emailed to students on Wednesday, May 6th If you have not filled out the commitment form for MB please do so as we will use the email you supplied to send your results.



Please complete the registration process following the timeline below (under the Marching Band Registration section), but note the following regarding payments for Color Guard students:

 

OPTION 1: Follow the regular payment schedule. If a student does not make the Color Guard, all fees will be refunded.

 

OPTION 2: Follow the payment schedule modified for Color Guard students. After Color Guard auditions have been completed, fees are Due MAY 9th: Fee 1 ($350) + Fee 2 ($350) = $700 | via EZPay or check to Mason City Schools.

 

 

2020 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

Seniors & Parents: we hope you are enjoying our senior spotlights on social media. Some have asked how to have their Senior included...all Seniors who are currently in concert band and guard were sent a google form from Mr. Protzman or Mr. Jackson to fill out.  The Senior must fill this out, not the parent! Forms are still being accepted so please make sure your senior submits the form and a picture to be included in our spotlights (they must check yes that we can include their info. on social media), we’d love to be able to include every Mason Band class of 2020 member. We understand this is an uncertain time, but we are moving forward in hopes that Marching Band will be able to continue as scheduled.  Adjustments will be made should COVID-19 restrictions continue and impact the season. Facebook Mason Band Parents and Families Group

Due to the unusual circumstances we are all experiencing right now, along with email updates, our band booster parents have also started a private Facebook group to assist in answering any questions you might have about the registration process or anything else regarding the Band and Guard programs. This is a great way, particularly for new families, to get assistance with registration through video tutorials, and the ability to ask questions of other veteran band families who are eager to help our new band families. Virtual Marching Band: Visual Masterclasses

The “Breakdown Camp” is hosting several virtual master classes for band and color guard students. Michael Rosales, our marching band choreographer for the fall, is hosting this camp and teaching one of the classes. Mason Music Private Instructors Support Fund

The Mason Band program has established a fund to support the private lesson instructors serving students at Mason City Schools. During these new uncertain times, professional musicians may find it difficult to maintain a reliable source of income. Our program supports these instructors as they support our students.
