During the past 3 months, a lot of planning has been going on behind the scenes, and the 2022 Marching Band season is officially ready to launch. See Mr. Sleppy’s email for more updates for the season. The Commitment & Financial Agreement Form and the first $350 payment are due by March 18.

Our first Band Booster General Membership meeting of the year will take place next Wednesday, March 16 at 7pm in the High School band room.  We have not met as a group since November 3rd, 2021 so lots to catch up on as we finish out this school year and start to look to summer and next school year!  We hope to see you next Wednesday!

We’ll offer one final opportunity for families to pick up refund checks that they requested via the Cleveland Refund google form.  This is truly the last call; refunds will not be available after 3/16.  Any checks or refunds not picked up will be turned into a donation to the Band Boosters.

This weekend was filled with the sound of beautiful music during the Cincinnati Regional Concert Band Festival.  The festival proved to be a wonderful educational opportunity. Hundreds of students throughout the area received performance feedback from well-respected clinicians.  As an added bonus, the students were able to watch phenomenal performances from both The Ohio State University’s Wind Symphony and Wright State University’s Wind Symphony.  Special thanks to the directors and students from both OSU and WSU who traveled to Mason to perform for the festival.  We are also tremendously grateful for all of the clinicians who shared their knowledge and love of music with our students.  Thanks as well to Music For All and their continued partnership in allowing us to host Cincinnati’s Regional Festival.  The event would not have been possible without the tireless planning of Marriane Bakos.   As always we are so thankful for all of the parent and student volunteers who gave their time, many who went above and beyond working multiple shifts.  We also appreciate everyone who donated food or money for our bake sale and hospitality. Lastly, thanks to our band directors and school administration for continuing to allow our students to have incredible experiences like the Music Festival here in Mason.

Jazz Band 1 and the Drumline both provided fun and energizing performances at the Taste of Mason.  Both groups represented the band program well on a night that celebrates our community’s diversity and vast talent.  Thanks for sharing your love of music with us all!

Please come out and support the Competitive Winterguard at Carlisle HS this Saturday, March 12, 2022. Their tentative performance time is 2:59pm.  This is their last local, MEPA competition prior to the WGI  Regional competition in Indianapolis March 19th and 20th! Please click HERE for more information on the Carlisle competition and to purchase tickets.  Tickets will also be sold at the door.  Hope to see you there!

Mason Bands is partnering with Sensation Research through March 13th.  Sensation Research is a local consumer research company that offers great opportunities to partner for fundraising.  All that we ask you to do is fill out this survey and share with family and friends:

For every survey received, the band receives $5.00.   Sensation Research is looking for members who are interested in a part time position with Sensation Research.  If you decide this is something you would like to do, and you take a position with Sensation Research, they will pay the band an additional $20 per person. Any person who takes a position with Sensation Research earns $17/hour for themselves.  Even if you do not have any interest in a position with Sensation Research, if you are willing to fill out the survey, the band receives the $5.00.  Any contact information received through this fundraiser WILL NOT BE SHARED OR SOLD. It is for gauging interest in a position or future consumer studies at Sensation Research only.

This event is being run in place of OMEA Solo and Ensemble. Please note, 7-9th grade solo and ensemble will not be an option for Mason students, as the timing does not align with our Spring Break. Our Recital Night will serve as our replacement for OMEA Solo & Ensemble going forward. Interested students should have already completed their registration. CLICK HERE for our informational document.
