CONGRATULATIONS, MR. JACKSON!

 

 

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Avious Jackson.  On Thursday evening at the Drive-In Reveal, Mr. Jackson was awarded the Mason Schools Foundation “Above and Beyond Teacher of the Year” award for his work with Mason students and dedication to all facets of the Mason Band Program.   Mr. Jackson received a $500 grant to use as part of the award.  Mr. Jackson is also newlywed to fellow MHS teacher and Choral and Theatre Director, Ms. Laura McElwee.  Thank you, Mr. Jackson for all you do for our program! Congratulations and Best Wishes on a life filled with happiness with your new bride!

 

COLOR GUARD & PERCUSSION CAMP - JUNE 15-19

We will be communicating throughout this week to Percussion and Guard families regarding these camps. Because our situation is continuously evolving we have several possible options for what this camp could look like. We are currently working toward plans that have an in-person component, which would be a big step for both the district and the band program in addition to requiring substantial planning and preparation. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to finalize our plans.

BAND AID/CHAPERONE INTEREST AND TRAINING

Thank you to all who participated in the chaperone/Band Aid training last week.  Remember this year, online CPR training is an excellent option if you need to renew.  We will offer a second training opportunity in late July.   

If you are new to Marching Band, this is your first step to demonstrate interest in joining us to care for our students.  If you would like to chaperone for the Marching Band, Concert Band or Winter Guard, this is the window to express interest and complete the training process.  Please complete this interest form so we can help find a good fit for everyone.

MASON LEVY PROTECTION UPDATE

Band family - you stepped up in a big way and were a big part of the reason that voters overwhelmingly approved the Mason Schools levy this spring. Many of you may remember signing petitions to protect 8 previous levies early this year.  Now we are looking to protect the new levy in the same way.  Under OH law, school opponents can hurt our Mason Quality by filing petitions to reduce the levy. You can help Protect Our Schools by signing the Petition to Protect.  If you did not sign at Supply Pick up  or at the Drive-In Reveal and wish to sign, please contact our Performing Arts Levy Chair, Bill Wilkinson bwilky67@cinci.rr.com 



MARCHING BAND REGISTRATION 

PLEASE COMPLETE STEPS #1-4 and 6 BELOW IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY!

We understand this is an uncertain time, but we are moving forward in hopes that Marching Band will be able to continue as scheduled.  Adjustments will be made should COVID-19 restrictions continue and impact the season. If you wish to participate, but have any reservations about commiting at this time, please contact Mr. Protzman at protzmane@masonohioschools.com.

The first Marching Band Travel Fee Payment ($275) was due June 1st.  If you haven’t done so already, please submit or send in your payment. We prefer that travel fees to be paid electronically through CHARMS.
