MHS WIND SYMPHONY AND MMS SYMPHONIC WINDS CONCERT

Please join our High School Wind Symphony and Middle School Symphonic Winds this Tuesday for a special concert at 7:30pm in the MHS Auditorium.  This concert is the preview concert for the Wind Symphony trip on Feb. 17 and a make-up concert for the MMS OMEA concert. The MMS students worked hard to prepare for their performance in Cleveland that was unfortunately canceled due to weather.  Let’s show them and the Wind Symphony some love and support by attending the concert that they had spent a great deal of time and effort putting together.  Below is the student schedule for the performance for both groups.  We hope to see you there!

MEDICATION PICK-UP

Medications that were dropped off for MMS Symphonic Winds or the HS Symphonic band students can be picked up on Tuesday in the HS Large Commons from 7:00 -7:30 before the concert or immediately following the performance.  If you have any questions, or this time will not work out for you, please contact Lisa Oldham at medicalsecretary@masonbandboosters.com.

PANO PHOTOS ARE READY!

For those of you who ordered panoramic photos, they are ready for pick up! Thank you for your patience as we dealt with shipping delays on the pano frames.

We are working to find the best way to distribute the panos and because they are large, heavy, and in glass frames, we want to minimize handling and transporting them. To achieve this we will use the upcoming Feb 8th Wind Symphony concert as the first pickup opportunity.

Please fill out the google form below if you plan to pick up yours on Feb 8th. We invite all families to pick up, even if your student is not participating in the concert. If this date does not work for you, no need to fill out this form and we will be back in touch soon with the next opportunity.

OMEA CLEVELAND SYMPHONIC BAND AND MMS SYMPHONIC WINDS TRIP

Know we are all disappointed that we had to cancel the trip due to weather.   We are disappointed that our hard working students were not able to travel to perform at the OMEA in Cleveland this week.   They were incredibly well prepared and we sure wish mother nature had cooperated and cleared a window safe to travel, but unfortunately that was not the case. Many thanks to our directors who lead the students in their musical preparations for the performances and Mr Jackson and Mr Hinson for  partnering in travel planning.

Chaperones will be refunded in full for their room payments.   We will be working on a plan to do that next week.

Have been working to secure as many refunds as possible for the trip and know that students will also receive a refund, the exact amount still being worked as we secure refunds from our vendors.

A peek behind the curtain today:   homeless shelters opened in Cleveland due to the cold were able to accept the two meals where the food was already purchased for our group and unable to be returned. So Mason Band and our students --paid it forward with the gift of food to people in need today rather than music today.

CLEVELAND CONCERT CD

For those families that had already turned in their CD Order form, we will be returning the check/cash to students this week. Please email Mr. Jackson if you would like for the check to be destroyed instead, or to make alternate arrangements.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR OMEA CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS!

We are so  proud of our Mason Band members who participated in the OMEA All State Honor Band and Orchestra concerts in Cleveland this past weekend! You put on amazing performances!

CONGRATS TO OUR COMPETITIVE WINTER GUARD!!

Congratulations to the Mason HS Competitive Winter Guard on an amazing debut performance of their 2022 Show, Fascination, at Bellbrook HS!  They were awarded first place in the Scholastic A class!

MHS RECITAL NIGHT

This event is being run in place of OMEA Solo and Ensemble. Please note, 7-9th grade solo and ensemble will not be an option for Mason students, as the timing does not align with our Spring Break. Our Recital Night will serve as our replacement for OMEA going forward. Interested students should complete their registration by Friday, February 11, 2022. CLICK HERE for our informational document and registration.

--If you have not already, please complete this google form that was due last Friday.

Travel Health Guidelines and Transportation Form

--NEW! Garment Bag Pick Up 2/8/22!   All Wind Symphony students should plan to travel to Kansas City with their full concert uniform in the provided garment bag.  Students will pick up the garment bags at the concert Tuesday night.  The garment bags should be packed for the trip to include black dress shoes and all the pieces they need for their concert uniform (e.g. black shirt, pants, belt, tie, vest and jacket or concert dress, pearls, dress shoes, etc).   Thank you Mrs. Bakos for helping our group travel in style!

--Students who are fully vaccinated and plan to use that as their option for the performance venue should have turned in a copy of their vaccination card to Mr.  Protzman last Wednesday.   We will keep a copy with the band during travel so we can quickly share with any venues that require proof and return it to students at the performance venue in Kansas City.

--For those opting to participate in the Pre-Travel Covid-19 rapid test, we will check-out the tests immediately after school 2/14.  You have a choice to either take the test home, administer there and simply share your results via a google form with us.  The other option is students may take the test Monday afternoon at school and we will provide oversight and simply note the results.   If the test would be positive they would have to follow quarantine guidelines and you would be welcome to secure a separate PCR test to verify those results.  We would accept those results to travel on Thursday.
