VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CONCERT BAND FESTIVAL

Like the marching band competitions, we need many volunteers to make this event a success!  The links to sign up to volunteer are below.  This is a fun event where you get to meet other parents and help provide a wonderful experience for all of these young, talented musicians! An added bonus is that your admission to the festival will be free all day with your volunteer wrist band.  That is a $10 value! Thanks in advance for your help!

CONGRATULATIONS COMPETITIVE WINTER GUARD!

The Competitive Winter Guard had a very busy weekend with two FASCINATING performances in two Mid East Performance Association (MEPA) competitions:

 

Saturday, 2/26 - Trent Arena, Kettering Fairmount HS - 2nd Place -Scholastic A Class

Sunday, 2/27 - Fairfield HS - 1st Place-Scholastic A

 

Congratulations to our students!  We are so proud of you!!

 

Next competition will be Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Carlisle HS.  More information will be posted in next week’s Band Notes.  Thank you to everyone for your continued support at our local competitions!

JAZZ BAND 1 AND DRUMLINE TO PERFORM AT TASTE OF MASON

Join us at the Taste of Mason this Tuesday at 5pm for a performance by our very own Jazz Band 1 and at 6:25 pm by our fantastic drumline.  Enjoy tasty and ethnic food from a variety of mason restaurants while watching many additional multicultural performances. We hope to see you at what promises to be a very fun night!  

CONCERT WINDS AND CONCERT WHITE PERFORM WEDNESDAY

You are invited to watch both the Concert White and Concert Winds perform this Wednesday night at 7pm in the High School Auditorium. The students have been working hard on their musical selections and would love to see many familiar faces of support. Detailed student schedule is below.

 

Concert Winds Performance Schedule

-Report to MHS at 5:00 pm dressed for the concert

-Rehearse on stage from 5:00 pm-6:30 pm

-6:30 pm, Move to audience to watch Concert White

-6:40 pm, doors open to the public

-7:00 pm, Concert Starts

-7:30 pm, Concert Winds Perform

-8:00 pm, Concert ends

 

Concert White Performance Schedule

-5:15 pm, C13 doors open for students to enter. Report to the band room for bow ties.

-5:30 pm, Students report to the band room for warm-up. 

-6:40 pm, Restroom break and transfer to the stage.

-6:55 pm, On stage, ready for performance. 

-7:00 pm, Concert White Performs

-7:25 pm, Watch Concert Winds.

-8:00 pm, All students dismissed.

CONCERT BAND FESTIVAL THIS UPCOMING WEEKEND!

On March 4th and 5th, Mason Bands will be hosting the annual Music For All Cincinnati Regional Concert Band Festival at Mason High School.  This event draws bands from across the region who get the chance to perform in front of renowned clinicians and receive feedback on their performance. In addition, you will not want to miss our two featured performances by Wright State University at 11:30 and The Ohio State University Wind Symphony at 5:00 on Saturday. Because this is a Music For All affiliate festival, tickets will be required for this event. Admission is $10 on Saturday for an all day pass that permits you to all performances, children under 10 are admitted for free. Admission is $5 for the Friday performances. Friday, 3/4/22

 

Mason HS Concert Winds 

-Bring concert attire to school and hand on rack in the morning before school starts

-Report to Band room at 2:30  and change into concert attire, store items in the ww room

-3:00 pm, on stage for Warm-up

-3:30 pm, performance - HS Auditorium

-3:50 pm, clinic

-4:30 pm, finish pack up and dismiss 

*Parents are welcome to attend the performance and clinic

 

Mason HS Concert White 

-Bring concert attire to school on Friday; black dress shoes, black socks, and white tuxedo shirts

-3:00 pm, Snack provided in Large Commons

-3:30 pm, change into concert attire

-4:00 pm, warm up in band room

-4:20 pm, move to stage

-4:30 pm, performance- A clinic with adjudicators will follow the performance.  This will happen on stage, and the audience is welcome to attend.

-5:20 pm, all students are dismissed

Mason Middle School Symphonic Winds 

ALL STUDENTS: Must Take Instruments Home on Friday, March 4 

Please eat breakfast before arriving in the morning. (Lunch after clinic) 

Wear your BLACK SHIRT & BLACK PANTS & Black Dress shoes (Black Tie/Black Socks/Tie).  

-9:30 am Arrive at Mason High School & unpack in homeroom: (MHS Choir Room) Enter through the “Small Commons” Doors in the bus circle in the back of the school. 

-10:20 am,.Warm Up for performance (Mason HS Band Room) 

-10:50 am, Leave warm up for performance 

-11:00 am,  Performance (Mason High School Auditorium) 

-11:20 am, Performance Ends, move to room for Clinic 

-11:40 am, Clinic with evaluator on music from performance (MHS Orchestra Room)

-12:10 pm, Return to homeroom and pack up instruments 

-12:30 pm, Visit concessions for lunch in High School Large Commons;Students will need to pre order their meal option using the form sent out by Mr. Hinson, or bring a meal 

-1:00 pm, Watch Lebanon High School Wind Ensemble 

-1:40pm, Watch Springboro High School Wind Ensemble 

-2:05 pm, Return to homeroom to gather items 

-2:15 pm, Dismissed to parents from Mason High School (same doors as entry) 


Mason HS Symphonic Band Concert Festival Schedule

-1:45 pm, Arrive at the C-13 Music Door. If you are wearing a dress, you should arrive in your dress, if you are wearing a tux, you will be able to retrieve your items from the Choir Room at that time. 

- 2:15 pm, Move to the auditorium to watch East Clinton perform. 

- 2:20 pm, Watch East Clinton

- 2:45 pm, Move to the choir room to prepare for warm-up.

- 3:00 pm, Warm-Up in the Band Room

- 3:30 pm, Move to auditorium for performance.

- 3:40 pm, Symphonic Band Performance - HS Auditorium

- 4:05 pm, Move to clinic in Orchestra Room

- 4:20 pm, Clinic begins. (This portion is not open to the public) 

- 4:50 pm, Clinic ends. Drop instruments in Choir Room, and move to the auditorium to watch Ohio State Wind Symphony

- 5:00 pm, Watch Ohio State Wind Symphony

- 5:50 pm, Move back to the choir room to change. 

- 6:00 pm, Students are dismissed. 


Mason HS Wind Symphony Concert Festival Schedule 

-12:30 pm Chamber Winds Performance (meet in Woodwind room at 11:30)

-5:00 pm, Report to auditorium to view the Ohio State Concert. You do not need to be in concert attire at this time. 

-6:00 pm, Dinner break in large commons (Concessions available) 

-6:55 pm, View Lakota East’s performance in auditorium

-7:30 pm, Report to Choir room to prepare for performance (green room can be used for changing)

-8:00 pm, Gather in Choir room and prepare to move to warm-up room (band room)

-8:55 pm, perform

-9:30 pm, all help clear up stage areas

-10:30 pm dismissed 

 

 

QUICK AND EASY FUNDRAISER

Mason Bands is partnering with Sensation Research beginning today through March 13th.  Sensation Research is a local consumer research company that offers great opportunities to partner for fundraising.  All that we ask you to do is fill out this survey: https://sensation.eyeqsoft.com/eq/r1/pblc4

 

For every survey received, the band receives $5.00.   Sensation Research is looking for members who are interested in a part time position with Sensation Research.  If you decide this is something you would like to do, and you take a position with Sensation Research, they will pay the band an additional $20 per person. Any person who takes a position with Sensation Research earns $17/hour for themselves.  Even if you do not have any interest in a position with Sensation Research, if you are willing to fill out the survey, the band receives the $5.00.  Any contact information received through this fundraiser WILL NOT BE SHARED OR SOLD. It is for gauging interest in a position or future consumer studies at Sensation Research only.

MARCHING BAND PANO PICK UP - MARCH 5th

For families who ordered Marching Band 2021 Pano photos and did not pick them up, they will be available for pickup on Saturday March 5th during the Concert Band Festival event. If you ordered the pano, you will also receive a separate email with this information. Pickup times on Saturday March 5th will be between 4pm-8:15pm at the volunteer check in station near the Music Wing entrance. If you cannot pick up your pano during that window, please email vp-marketing@masonbandboosters.com to arrange a different option. Any panos not picked up by the end of the event on Saturday will be with the directors for students to pick up on their own.

CLEVELAND REFUNDS 

Refunds for the Cleveland trip will be available for pick up prior to the Symphonic Band and the Middle School Symphonic Winds performances on Saturday.

MHS RECITAL NIGHTS

This event is being run in place of OMEA Solo and Ensemble. Please note, 7-9th grade solo and ensemble will not be an option for Mason students, as the timing does not align with our Spring Break. Our Recital Night will serve as our replacement for OMEA going forward. Interested students should have already completed their registration. CLICK HERE for our informational document.

Students who registered will be given their  15-minute performance time 1-2 weeks prior to the performance.  Hosted at Mason High School, in the music wing.

This past year the Mason Band received $3676.31 through Kroger’s Community Rewards Program. Their program makes fund-raising for the band easy...all you have to do is shop at Kroger and swipe your Plus Card!  It couldn’t be much simpler.
