We are in need of at least four people to help with some simple sewing for our show. If interested, please email Bill at Bwilky67@cinci.rr.com

 

Great News!   Pre-Game Friday Night Home Game  Dinner 8/30/19

This year we are excited to be able to provide our students meals before Friday night home football games.   This year, our first home football game dinner is sponsored by Cane's.  We are very grateful for their generous support.

 

Cane's Menu:  Chicken Fingers, Cane's Sauce. Texas Toast, French Fries

 

Dinner will be served at 5:00, immediately following rehearsal.  Student have 5-6pm to eat and prepare for the game.   We encourage students to join in the Friday night meals; you are welcome to drop off dinner at 5pm.   Students with dietary needs will get a separate email outline the plan for their meal Friday.  



Finance Table 

Every Thursday evening, between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm, a finance table will be set up near practice for our families to make trip payments, or turn in car raffle tickets.

 

M Dress Donation Drive- last days before first football game!

We are in need of M Dress donations so the Color Guard can keep looking their best for Home games.  If you haven't dropped yours off please do so this week.  We appreciate your help! 

 

Secret Buddy Information

What is Secret Buddy?

Secret Buddy is a fun opportunity for students to “secretly” provide snacks and treats for another member of the band for home football games and competitions. If a student chooses to participate, they will also be receiving snacks and treats from their own secret buddy. The goal is to try to keep your identity a secret during the season and then reveal yourself at Grand Nationals.

 

If your child has chosen to participate, they will be assigned a buddy along with information about things that person likes. They should have items ready to give their buddy on the following dates:

 

Dates for Secret Buddy:

August 30th - Football game

September 6th - Football game

September 13th - Football game

September 28th - OSU Buckeye Invitational

October 4th - Football game

October 11th - Football game/ October 12th - MSBA Mason Invitational  → combine as one gift for both days

October 19th - MSBA Centerville Invitational

October 25th - Football game

November 9th - MSBA Championships

November 14th-16th - GRAND NATIONALS

Marching Band Uniform Crew: Call for volunteers!

We have finished fitting all the marchers with uniforms and now it’s time to IRON them all so they look their best when they take the field! If you would like to join our IRONING PARTY, bring your iron, ironing board (and a snack if you like!) to the Band Room this Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm, Thursday evening from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, and Saturday morning from 9:00 am - noon. Believe it or not, it’s a great time and a good way to make new friends and the more help we have the faster it will go! Thanks!!!

 

Concert Uniform Fittings:  Call for volunteers!

Back to school time means concert season is just around the corner.  Your help is needed to size students for tuxedo shirts, concert dresses and tuxedos.  We will be working during the school day hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week from 8:30-1:15 each day.  If you are able to help, even for a few hours, it is greatly appreciated.  Please contact Marianne Bakos at bakosfamily6@gmail.com if you have any questions and to let me know when to expect you.  Thank you for considering this vital role in helping our students look their best on concert night!

 

William Mason High School Marching Band - 2019 Home Football Game Primer

Key Things to know:

-Students rehearse right after school and do not have time to leave campus.  They should have their regular rehearsal gear and filled water bottle with them to keep hydrated throughout the evening on long Friday game nights.  

 -Students should bring both rehearsal and performance clothes (either summer uniform or what they wear under their uniform) to school on Friday.  Directors will communicate in advance what uniform students will wear at the game. 

-Students are not allowed to leave campus for dinner.  New this year, the Band Boosters are  providing dinner for students on Friday nights between rehearsal and game time (except Family Tailgate Night).  You may bring dinner to your student at 5:00 if you wish.  Each week the dinner plan will be shared in the Sunday Band Notes.  

--The Band plays in front of the Atrium before they enter the stands.  If you want to see that, stay outside the football stadium at the entrance and then enter after they play the fight song,

--Parents not working to support the band at the game, have to purchase tickets to enter Atrium Stadium.  Tickets may be purchased at the gate or in advance at the High School Athletic Office.

 --Students will stay with the band through halftime performance and then have third quarter off to visit friends, family and the concession stand! The band will provide a water after half-time, but students need to bring money if they want anything at the concession stand. 

-Students will return to Endzone for 4th quarter.

-Parents pick-up students at the High School after they have changed. Students will need time to put away all instruments and equipment and ensure their uniforms are properly put away.

District Tailgate: This Friday

The annual district tailgate runs from 4:30 - 6:30 pm in the back parking lot of Mason Middle School.  Booster groups were assigned a booth to welcome the community, and  Mason Bands will be located in front of the soccer/turf field.   Easy to spot as Lincoln of      Cincinnati will join and have the Nautilus on display!  Raffle tickets will be available for purchase.  Cane's will also be by our side with their spin the wheel for a prize!   Look for the large marching band logo proudly displayed by the Spirit committee. An ideal opportunity for younger siblings to join in the excitement.

The tour shirt design is available in short sleeve t-shirts, Long Sleeve t-shirts, Crewneck Sweatshirts and Hoodies.  As a reminder a short sleeve t-shirt has already been ordered for each student as part of their fees. 

 

The t-shirt design is a secret until the students get them and therefore the one on the online form is NOT the actual shirt design.  

 

No late orders will be accepted and extras will not be available so order your tour shirt today! 

 

Lincoln of Cincinnati Test Drive

Lincoln of Cincinnati will make a donation for each person who test drives a Lincoln model vehicle on Saturday, Sept 7th from 8:30am - 2:00pm at Mason Middle School.  A quick drive around campus, such an easy fundraiser!  Our goal is 175 test drives to maximize the donation amount. Please note, anyone 21 year and older can test drive, but only one per household is eligible /counts toward donation. If you  aren’t able to participate, invite your neighbor or another family member!

Reminder: Tag Day, Friends & Family Campaign

During the month of August we are "tagging" those people outside of our immediate Mason Band family to participate in our Friends & Family Campaign.  

 

The idea is to "tag" our closest friends and family members who live outside the Mason area, but who would like to participate in Tag Day by supporting our band program.  Please click thislink for a customizable letter and/or email that you are encouraged to customize and have your student send to family and friends during the month of August--Tag "Month"!   Last year we raised over $200 additional dollars in our online campaign.  We are challenging the students to double that this year.   If they are able to do that, we will bring a special treat to one of their Saturday Practices!

 

Please help your kids brainstorm the names of family members and close friends who would appreciate being "tagged" by receiving one of the letters.  Maybe your list includes Mason Band alumni and/or their families...they would certainly appreciate still being considered a part of our band family and may love the opportunity to support the program!
