PAST DUE - Marching Band Commitment Form and Fee #1 were due 4/1 (See STEP 1 of the Registration Guide below).

 

PAST DUE - Charms Registration, Health and Well-Being Google Form and Student Care Plan were due 4/15  (See STEP 2 on the Registration Guide below)

DUE APRIL 27 - Mail your Absentee Ballot or deliver to the board of elections by this date for your vote to be counted in the Ohio Primary Election!

2020 MASON BANDS FLOWER SALE 

 

We are now taking orders for the Flower Sale! Due to unprecedented times, the 2020 Spring Flower Sale will be held online! Please spread the word to family, friends, and neighbors to go online to https://form.jotform.com/200889278540161 and place their orders by April 30, 2020.

 

Flowers will be distributed to Band Families the weekend of May 8th, or the purchaser can choose to have us deliver directly to them for a $15 fee. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to send an email to springsale@masonbandboosters.com

Marching Band Registration 

If you were not able to participate in Thursday’s Marching Band virtual office hours, please review the summary of  common questions.  

 

FAQ from the 4/16 Virtual Meeting

 

PLEASE COMPLETE STEPS #1 AND #2 BELOW IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY!

The Marching Band 2020 Registration and Commitment Fee are now PAST DUE!  It is very important that everyone who intends on participating in Marching Band 2020 complete the commitment form and make the $350 first payment. See STEP #1 below.  We understand this is an uncertain time, but we are moving forward in hopes that Marching Band will be able to continue as scheduled. Adjustments will be made should COVID-19 restrictions continue and impact the season. If you wish to participate, but have any reservations about commiting at this time, please contact Mr. Protzman at protzmane@masonohioschools.com.

 

Please note that Step 2:  Charms Registration, Student Health and Well-Being Form and Student Care Plan (if applicable)  are PAST DUEPlease complete these items if you have registered for Marching Band 2020.

NOTE FOR COLOR GUARD STUDENTS:

Color Guard membership is contingent upon an audition process that will be taking place via video submission in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye on your email and Remind updates for more information regarding this! If you are not yet a member of the Fall 2020 Color Guard Remind Group, please text to 81010 the following: @20fallcg.  If students or families know of any other 8th grade students or MHS students that would like to try out for the Color Guard Team,  please pass along the Remind or refer them to the Mason Band website, Ensembles, MHS Marching Band Guard or click on this link https://www.masonbands.com/ensembles/color-guards/mhs-marching-band-guard/.

 

Please complete the registration process following the timeline below, but note the following regarding payments for Color Guard students:

 

OPTION 1: Follow the regular payment schedule. If a student does not make the Color Guard, all fees will be refunded.

 

OPTION 2: Follow the payment schedule modified for Color Guard students. After Color Guard auditions have been completed, fees are Due MAY 1: Fee 1 ($350) + Fee 2 ($350) = $700 | via EZPay or check to Mason City Schools.

 

Marching Band Information 

 

MASON MARCHING BAND 2020 LEADERSHIP APPLICATION FORM - PAST DUE!

Leadership Application Process:

  1. Applicant reads and abides by the band handbook (located on masonbands.com), leadership application, and the Marching Band Schedule.
  2. The Leadership Google form application was due this past Friday, 4/17!  Please get in ASAP if you still wish to be considered for a Leadership position! 
  3. Individual interviews and conducting auditions for drum majors with directors will be scheduled the following week via Zoom or Google if we are not yet back in school. 
  4. The 2020 William Mason High School Marching Band Student Leadership Team will be selected by May 1.
  5. Leadership Team Building and training will begin mid to late May, with meetings likely to be weekly until minicamp begins (Virtual or in-person meetings). 

-Results for Drum Major, Woodwind, and Brass leadership positions will be posted May 1

 

-Percussion and guard members should complete the form; however, their leadership positions will not be posted until after auditions are complete (Posting dates for guard and percussion will be announced at a later date)

 

*STUDENTS WHO DO NOT COMPLETE THE GOOGLE FORM WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR A LEADERSHIP POSITION

 

Facebook Mason Band Parents and Families Group

Due to the unusual circumstances we are all experiencing right now, along with email updates, our band booster parents have also started a private Facebook group to assist in answering any questions you might have about the registration process or anything else regarding the Band and Guard programs. This is a great way, particularly for new families, to get assistance with registration through video tutorials, and the ability to ask questions of other veteran band families who are eager to help our new band families. This is a closed Facebook Group dedicated to keeping you informed and to allow ALL Band and Guard Families to interact with other families and the Directors!  This is a great place to get the latest information and to ask questions! If you do not have a Facebook account and do not wish to use Facebook, DON’T WORRY! We will still be using all of the forms of communication that we always have:  email, Remind, and masonbands.com. We will also still maintain the public-facing social media accounts: Mason Band Facebook Page, @mason_band and @masoncolorguards Instagram Pages and the @MasonBands Twitter account.

 

UPDATED OHIO VOTING INFORMATION - NEW DATE APRIL 28, 2020

A reminder the Mason City Schools Levy that was on the 3/17 primary ballot will conclude 4/28.  If you already voted, no worries, your vote will still count. If you haven’t yet voted, you must act now! THERE WILL BE NO IN PERSON VOTING.  Absentee Ballot requests are taking about a week to process and requests must be received by the board of elections by 4/25/2020 and completed absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than April 27th.  If you haven’t yet voted or requested your absentee ballot, you can do so online HERE.  If you have an absentee ballot, please return today so your vote is included.

Virtual Marching Band: Visual Masterclasses

The “Breakdown Camp” is hosting several virtual master classes for band and color guard students. Michael Rosales, our marching band choreographer for the fall, is hosting this camp and teaching one of the classes. ATTENTION STUDENTS!

Need an outlet for your creativity during this time of quarantine? Now is a great time to start generating ideas and designs for the t-shirt contests that will happen later on! More details will follow, but for now start thinking of ideas for a band camp t-shirt, a Mason Invitational t-shirt and an MSBA championship t-shirt. Also, we would love for you to submit ideas for new button designs. If you have any questions or if you have button designs please email them to  spirit@masonbandboosters.com

 

Mason Music Private Instructors Support Fund

The Mason Band program has established a fund to support the private lesson instructors serving students at Mason City Schools. During these new uncertain times, professional musicians may find it difficult to maintain a reliable source of income. Our program supports these instructors as they support our students.
