Calling A Few More Car Wash Volunteers!

Tomorrow is a busy band day! Just a couple of reminders:

Flower Sale Pick-Up!
Remember to pick up your flower sale orders on Saturday at the MHS Small Commons between 9:00 am and 11:00 am OR 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (plenty of time to get cars washed AND pick up flowers!). Please don't send your customers to pick up the flowers! You and your band student are responsible for picking up the flowers and making sure they are delivered.

Car Wash Parent Volunteers Still Needed!
Most of our car wash locations still need parent volunteers! Remember that volunteering at the car wash doesn't mean that you have to wash the cars...unless you especially love to wash cars! You'll have plenty of kids to do the washing...you are just there as an adult supervisor (and to control the hoses!). If you can help at any of the following times/locations, please contact Lisa Miller (lisamiller66@embarqmail.com or 476-9680):

Wendy's Deerfield--1 parent from 10-Noon AND 1 parent Noon -2pm
Mason Intermediate--1 parent 10-Noon AND 1parent Noon-2pm

Larosa's--1 Parent 10-Noon AND 2 Parents Noon-2pm
1st National (Fields Ertle)--1 Parent 10am-11:15 am AND 2 Parents 11:15-12:30 pm
1st National (Mason Montgomery)--2 Parents 10am- 11:15am AND 2 Parents 11:15 am-12:30 pm

Finally, we have a long list of brass students who signed up for the MI location...but just a couple at the Wendy's Rt 42 location. We will be asking some of the students today to switch to the Wendy's location to make sure we have plenty of help at both places.

Please Register Now for Kroger Fundraiser!

Changes have been made to the Kroger Card Fundraiser, and we need your help to be sure that we don't lose the opportunity to contine earning funds through this program! As you all know, it is more important now than ever before that we generate funds to support our band program!

Effective May 1 (next week!), your purchases--and our the band's credits--will no longer be tracked using the reloadable gift cards. Instead, your Kroger Plus Card will be used to track your purchases and to determine the band's credits. To receive the credits, however, you must register your Kroger Plus Card online and designate Mason Bands as the recipient. The directions are below...

TO USE THE KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM:
Register online at krogercommunityrewards.com

Be sure to have your Kroger Plus card handy and register your card with your organization after you sign up.
If a member does not yet have a Kroger Plus card, please let them know that they are available at the customer service desk at any Kroger.
Click on Sign In/Register
Most participants are new online customers, so they must click on SIGN UP TODAY in the ‘New Customer?’ box.
Sign up for a Kroger Rewards Account by entering zip code, clicking on favorite store, entering your email address and creating a password, agreeing to the terms and conditions
You will then get a message to check your email inbox and click on the link within the body of the email.
Click on My Account and use your email address and password to proceed to the next step.
Click on Edit Kroger Community Rewards information and input your Kroger Plus card number.
Update or confirm your information.
Enter NPO number or name of organization, select organization from list and click on confirm. The Mason Band NPO number 81101.
To verify you are enrolled correctly, you will see your organization’s name on the right side of your information page.
REMEMBER, purchases will not count for your group until after your member(s) register their card(s).
Do you use your phone number at the register? Call 800-576-4377, select option 4 to get your Kroger Plus card number.
Members must swipe their registered Kroger Plus card or use the phone number that is related to their registered Kroger Plus card when shopping for each purchase to count.

Items Needed for After Prom

Hopefully you've heard that the Band Boosters are decorating a classroom for this year's After Prom. This year's theme is "A Midnight Cruise," and the band is creating the ship's game room (teen style--with Black Light Twister!). We are looking to borrow a few things--if you have some of these items or would like to donate something, we would really appreciate it. Anything you can send in is one less thing we need to buy, so even a single light bulb is a money saver!

Here are some of the things we are looking for:

Black lights (any size and shape)
Clamp lighting fixtures to hold our black lights.
Extension cords
Rope lighting (like you would use at Christmas)
Highlighters - they glow under black light
Butcher block paper
Neon bowls
Binder clips
Anything Twister
Any Neon decoration that would "fit" with a twister/black light/game room theme! If it's neon it will generally glow under black light.
Chex Mix

If you have any of these items, I would be happy to come and pick them up from you, or you can leave them in the After Prom box in the Booster room.

Drive One For Your School!

We have been given a great opportunity to earn up to $3,000 for our band program, as part of the Ford "Drive One For Your School" program. We are looking for a minimum of 150 people who will give about 20 minutes of their time to earn $20 each for our kids. We are partnering with the Touchdown Club...and each group is trying to get 150 drivers to participate in this event so that each group can earn $3,000.

How it works: We need 150 licensed drivers, age 18 or older, to test drive a new Ford vehicle. Volunteers will come to Kings Ford in the Kings Auto Mall and will complete a short test drive. After completing the drive, you will be asked to complete a short survey on your driving experience. Ford Motor Company uses your feedback to help their company make improvements to its products. In return for our feedback, Ford will donate $20 to our program for every completed survey. The only catch is that you must use your best handwriting when completing the survey. We have been assured by the dealership manager that our volunteers will receive no pressure to purchase a new vehicle. Of course, if you are interested in finding out more about a vehicle, they would be happy to help you!

Here are the details:
Date: Saturday, May 5th

Time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Place: Kings Ford in the Kings Auto Mall

Volunteers: One per participating household

Please feel free to invite your neighbors or relatives to join us, too! All are welcome to help support our AWESOME program. There will be music, food, etc. at the dealership that day.

How can you get involved? Please email Lisa Miller at lisamiller66@embarqmail.com, and let her know the hour during which you would be available. A large number of vehicles will be available each hour, and our goal is to have about 25 volunteers per hour. Your participation should take about 20 minutes to take the test drive lap and complete the survey. We are asking that you give us an approximate hour just so that we can spread things out a bit. We respect that everyone's time is limited during this time of year.
