SYMPHONY
ORCHESTRA
Director:
Stephanie Jones
The Mason Symphony Orchestra features the finest
string musicians at Mason High School. Symphony Orchestra was added to the
Mason High School course offerings for the 2006-2007 school year to provide an
opportunity for students who are at an advanced level. An addition to the four
year old string program, this orchestra consists of mostly upperclassmen and
meets all three trimesters. The Symphony Orchestra continues the development of
refined skills in each ensemble member through performance of top quality string
and full orchestra literature. They perform three school concerts per year as
well as OMEA adjudicated events and community performances. The Symphony
Orchestra has the distinct honor of being selected to perform at the 2007 Ohio
Music Education Association Conference in Columbus, Ohio. They are one of only
two high school orchestras in the state of Ohio to receive this honor. Eleventh
and Twelfth grade students receive honors credit for participation in this
class. The requirements for honors credit include studying with a private
lesson teacher, professional concert critiques, participation in district solo
and ensemble and honor orchestra events, and ten hours of community service.
