Susan Bass joined the instrumental team at Mason City Schools in the Fall of
2000. Her teaching responsibilities include the three Seventh and three Eighth
Grade Concert Bands, Seventh Grade Jazz Band, Eighth Grade Jazz Band, and High
School Marching Band. Prior to her years at Mason, Mrs. Bass’ taught in the
Kings Local School District. Her responsibilities were Seventh and Eighth Grade
Concert Band, Assistant High School Band Director, High School Marching Band,
and Winter Guard Director. Mrs. Bass is a graduate of the University of
Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and holds memberships in Music
Education National Conference, Ohio Music Education Association, Sigma Alpha
Iota, and Tau Beta Sigma.
Kyle
Young

Kyle M. Young received his Bachelors degree in Music Education from Wright State
University in 2005. As a student at WSU, Kyle performed with the Wright State
University Saxophone Quartet at the Northeastern Division Conference of the
Music Educators National Conference in 2002 as well as performing at the North
American Saxophone Alliance Conference in New London, Connecticut in
2005. He has performed numerous times with the Dayton Philharmonic Concert Band.
Kyle also was a performing member with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps from
Toledo, Ohio. After graduation, Kyle taught one year in the Fairborn City
Schools District. During his employment with Fairborn, he was the assistant
director of the Fairborn Skyhawk Marching Band. He holds memberships in the
Music Educators National Conference and the Ohio Music Education Association.

Jason Sleppy

A native of Clayton, Ohio, Jason E. Sleppy joined the Mason
Middle School instrumental staff in 2008 after graduating from Miami University
in Oxford, Ohio with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education as well as study in
Piano Performance. During his time at Miami, Mr. Sleppy was involved in many
conducting opportunities acting as the assistant conductor of the Miami
University Symphony Orchestra, Miami University String Orchestra, Miami's annual
opera production, and Miami University's Men's Glee Club. As an assistant
conductor of the Miami Men's Glee Club he was fortunate to have the opportunity
to conduct the group in many prestigious events such as concerts in St.
Patrick's Cathedral in New York, New York, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris,
France, as well as an assistant conducting opportunity with the Indiana Music
Educators Association All-State Men's Chorus. Before coming to Mason, Jason
spent four years teaching and arranging percussion for Northmont High School's
award winning marching band and indoor percussion ensemble. Mr. Sleppy's
responsibilities at Mason include team teaching seventh and eighth grade bands
as well as assisting with the Mason High School Marching Band percussion
section. Mr. Sleppy is affiliated with the Ohio Music Education Association,
Music Educators National Conference, and the Percussive Arts Society.
Stephanie Jones

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stephanie Jones joined the Mason Music Staff in
2002 when she was hired to start the new string program for the Mason City
Schools. Under her direction, the program has grown to include over 400 students
in just four years. Currently, Mrs. Jones is the director of the Mason High
School Symphony Orchestra and Concert Orchestra and teaches 7th and 8th grade
orchestra at Mason Middle School. Prior to coming to Mason, Mrs. Jones was the
Strings Specialist for the West Clermont School District where she also started
their string program. Mrs. Jones received her degrees of Bachelor of Music in
Music Education and Cello Performance from Miami University. She is the
Assistant Director of the Blue Ash Youth Symphony Orchestra and performs
regularly as a cellist with the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra and other
ensembles in the Cincinnati area. Mrs. Jones holds memberships in Music
Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Education Association, American String
Teachers Association, Delta Omicron and Phi Kappa Phi.
Erin
Zemanek

Erin Zemanek, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University. Upon completion of her degree, she joined the Mason Music Staff to teach 6th grade orchestra in 2004. Presently, her teaching responsibilities include the 7th and 8th grade orchestras at Mason Middle School. As a violist, Miss Zemanek performs regularly as a member of the Cincinnati Community Orchestra. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Music Education at The Ohio State University. Miss Zemanek’s professional affiliations include the Music Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Education Association, and American String Teachers Association
