Christy began teaching beginning band for Mason City Schools in 1992. During her
employment with Mason schools she has also held the positions of: assistant high
school band director, assistant high school marching band director, middle
school band director, middle school choir director, elementary general music
teacher, and high school color guard instructor. Before coming to Mason she
taught in the West Carrollton School District (near Dayton, OH) as an elementary
strings teacher, elementary band director, general music teacher for grades K-7,
and color guard instructor with the high school marching band. Ms. Downer
received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati -
College Conservatory of Music in Music Education (Bassoon concentration). She
holds a degree in Master of Science in Education with Music Concentration from
the University of Dayton in conjunction with private study on the trumpet and
French horn. Ms. Downer is a member of the Ohio Music Education Association and
the Music Educators National Conference.
Chad
Fourman

After graduation from Wright State University, Chad Fourman taught one year at
the Franklin City School District before arriving at Mason in 2001. Mr.
Fourmans responsibilities consist of teaching 6th grade band, assisting with
the marching band, and he has been the Winter Guard Director for the past three
years. Mr. Fourman has been a private lesson instructor for 15 years. He
received his masters at the University of Dayton in music education.
Brian
Frey

Brian Frey came to Mason after earning his Bachelor of Music in Music Education
from Miami University in 2005. He is co-director of the High School Chamber
Strings and Concert Orchestra, and he teaches 7th and 8th grade orchestra. Mr.
Frey is affiliated with the Music Educators National conference, Ohio Music
Education Association, American String Teachers Association, and Phi Mu Alpha
Sinfonia.
Molly
Finnerty

A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Molly Finnerty received her Bachelor
of Music in Music Education from Xavier University in 2006. As a student at
Xavier, Molly was the concertmaster of the Xavier University Strings
Orchestra and a violinist in the Strings Ensemble and was granted the Xavier
University Musicianship Award. Since college, she has performed numerous times
with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Upon completing her degree in 2006,
Molly taught in the Fairborn City Schools District for two years. During her
employment with Fairborn, she was the assistant director of the Fairborn High
School Symphony and Chamber Orchestra and also taught strings at the
Intermediate and Middle Schools. Molly holds a membership in the Ohio Music
Education Association.
