Robert C. Bass Jr. is a native of Greensburg, Ohio. He received his Bachelor
degree in Music Education and Euphonium Performance from the University of
Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music in 1985. Robert Bass came to Mason
High School in 1999 as Director of Bands. Prior to his appointment at Mason, Mr.
Bass taught one year at Williamsburg High School (Williamsburg, OH), two years
at Green Junior High School (Green, OH) and ten years at Fairborn High School
(Fairborn, OH). Bands under Mr. Bass’ direction have performed at The Midwest
International Band and Orchestra Clinic, O.M.E.A. State Conventions and Bands of
America National Concert Band Festival as the first representative from the
state of Ohio. They have consistently received superior ratings and have been
awarded numerous honors in concert and marching events. Mr. Bass’
responsibilities include director of Wind Symphony, Concert Band White and Red, Marching
Band, Pep Band, and musical director for Mason City Schools. In addition to his
duties at Mason High School, Mr. Bass has been a guest conductor and clinician
throughout the United States. He is a member of Music Educators National
Conference, Ohio Music Education Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Micah Ewing

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Micah Ewing came to Mason High School in 2002.
His responsibilities include conducting the Symphonic Band and Concert Band
Green and Red, teaching brass and woodwind classes, and directing marching and
pep bands. Prior to coming to Mason, Mr. Ewing served as Chair of the Music
Department at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio
where he conducted the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Ewing received
his Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Horn Performance from Miami
University and the Master of Music degree in Conducting from Northwestern
University. His advocacy of new music has led him to perform and commission new
works by living composers. Mr. Ewing is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher and
holds memberships in Music Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Education
Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Avious
Jackson

Avious Jackson is a native of
Riverside, Ohio. In 2004, he received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education
from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Prior to joining the Mason staff in
2008, Mr.
Jackson taught at Stebbins High School in the Mad River Local School District.
While there, he served as Chair of the district’s Music Department, while
directing both bands and orchestras through many successful performances
including consistent qualification for state level events. Mr. Jackson is a
member of Music Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Education Association,
and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Stephanie Jones

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stephanie Jones joined the Mason Music Staff in
2002 when she was hired to start the new string program for the Mason City
Schools.Currently, Mrs. Jones is the director of the Mason High
School Symphony Orchestra and Concert Orchestra and teaches 7th and 8th grade
orchestra at Mason Middle School. Prior to coming to Mason, Mrs. Jones was the
Strings Specialist for the West Clermont School District where she also started
their string program. Mrs. Jones received her degrees of Bachelor of Music in
Music Education and Cello Performance from Miami University. She is the
Assistant Director of the Blue Ash Youth Symphony Orchestra and performs
regularly as a cellist with the Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra and other
ensembles in the Cincinnati area. Mrs. Jones holds memberships in Music
Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Education Association, American String
Teachers Association, Delta Omicron and Phi Kappa Phi.
Brian
Frey

Brian Frey came to Mason after earning his Bachelor of Music in Music Education
from Miami University in 2005. He is co-director of the High School Chamber
Strings and Concert Orchestra, and he teaches 7th and 8th grade orchestra. Mr.
Frey is affiliated with the Music Educators National conference, Ohio Music
Education Association, American String Teachers Association, and Phi Mu Alpha
Sinfonia.
