Email: MBBailey@cinci.rr.com
Years In Band: 1999-2003
Instrument Played: Saxophone, Section Leader
Personal Info: I am a full time student at Xavier University majoring in Music Education. After I graduate, I want to go to Texas to become a High School Band director. If fortunate enough to be in the Houston area, I hope to pursue a Master’s Degree in Winds Conducting at Rice.
Favorite Memory: Every year, since the 2000 marching season, on awards night I have been honored with a 'special' award; "The Best First Year Marcher Award." I receive the award as a tribute to how terrible a marcher I was my freshmen year and how I continued to make vast improvements each year there after. Now, having graduated, the awards are a constant reminder that we can always be better than we currently are and to keep working to be the best we can be. I'm told by Mr. Bass that I will continue to receive the award until I have become a band director myself and can begin to award my own students with the same 'honor'. ~Thanks Mr. Bass!

Name: Ryan Barnes
Email: ryanbarnes_500@hotmail.com
Home Page:  http://www.myspace.com/rkbizzle87
Years In Band: 2002-2006
Instrument Played: Trombone, Baritone
Personal Info: Well I have a younger sister Rachel Barnes a senior this year.  Most people remember me as the kid that used the gloves (including Mr. Bass).  I was one of the few people who had the pleasure of Marching for 5 years, and the only Low Brass player to do it in my graduating class.  Well I tried to go to College at the University of Akron and University of Cincinnati with no real progress being made,  Until I stumbled on to my true passion becoming a Policeman.  I just graduated the Police Academy on Nov. 20th.  I still live in Mason so you all probably see me around a lot if you ever come home.  Good luck to everyone in your life's endeavors!!  Don't hesitate to e-mail me if you need anything.
Favorite Memory: That probably has to be my 8th grade year.  It was my first away trip with the Band.  One of my roommates got really sick so they had to move Andy Weaver and I out of the rooms into others.  i got stuck in a Senior Boys room!!! That was probably the most fun I'd ever had on a band trip.

Favorite Memory:
Obviously it was during away band camp, my senior year, when we first played the opener for Daniel Montoya Jr Sir.  I remember I blasted the last Bb and everyone turns to me and goes "Jesus...calm down!"  And I see Montoya in the distance point and go "HIM."  And sure enough...it was my own fault he gave me octave parts above the staff, for which I decided to include Greenfield in my endeavors.  You're welcome, and Sorry Bass!  xD

Favorite Memory: Things sure have changed in Mason over the years. We used to take only one or two buses with us to competitions! I miss playing an instrument very much. We worked so hard and were so proud of our acomplishments. I miss marching to the rockin' drum line! I loved feeling like a star when I had the opportunity to play a solo. The Salute to Judy Garland field show was my favorite! If only I could have dressed up like Dorothy while I played my solo! Haha! I remember having lots of fun sitting next to Nate Meyer in concert band and I will always have fond memories of Mr. Kleesattel and Mr. Holt.

Favorite Memory: My favorite band memory would have to be the first time that the marching band went away for band camp. I was a senior then and as our joke on the directors we wrapped the whole scaffold in plastic wrap and tied a big bow on it. It was lovely the way it glittered in the sun.

Favorite Memory: When Keyser and Chamberlain pushed me on the swing thing and my leg nailed part of the swing set. After that my leg swelled up and it looked like I had 2 knee caps. I got to sit out of marching and Mrs. Aldridge called my mom and told her that I had to go to the hospital because I had a contusion. My mom, not knowing what a contusion was, then began to cry, and my dad got me on the phone and yelled at me for hurting my leg and told the band moms I wasn't going to the hospital. I personally thought that was really funny, and if you know me, you know i like to laugh.

This summer I will be attending Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California and will be will be attending graduate school at University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
Favorite Memory:
I only remember two things that Mr. Bass ever said to me, “so I guess I ruined your life” in response to telling him I would have quit the clarinet had he not come to Mason and “good things come to those who work.” I believe the second one. I am glad that I didn’t listen to the majority opinion in high school. I forget that everything happens for a reason and where I am now is where I am supposed to be. I have had some amazing experiences that I would not have had outside of music.

Name: Davina Drury
Email: davinajdrury@hotmail.com
Years In Band: 2001-2005
Instrument Played: Color Guard/ Winter Guard
Personal Info: I am currently at Florida State University studying civil engineering. I joined the circus... no really, I did. Maybe you should join too. oh, and no... we do NOT have elephants. sorry for the inconvenience.
Favorite Memory: You're asking me to re-live this experience? Though I will admit, being mooned on three separate occasions on the band bus is a good memory... oh, and there's the time I tripped and FELL during our final winter guard show our first year of even having a guard... oh, and stabbing my toe with a sabre... wait, these are supposed to be FAVORITE memories. well, I guess I'm just a sadist...

Name: Cara Dunker
Email: famemoneyglamour@netscape.net
Years In Band: 1996-2004
Instrument Played: Flute
Personal Info: Journalism and Broadcasting with a minor in business at University of Cincinnati. (currently at Ray's place though; I have transferred and will move down Clifton to attend UC main camp this fall) Life is wonderful. Keep an eye out for me in magazines and runway shows... sometimes frozen in a window at the mall; hopefully, a few years from now, be reading my work in a newspaper. Basically, I love the spotlight (good way to remember my e-mail address). Not much else, other than my hair is very long again, I miraculously grew another two inches, and I'm still just as crazy of a girl.
Favorite Memory: Oh my! I loved all the memories (marching band)...mainly all of the wonderful people I met. I miss how I would be so exhausted and sweaty after a competition, and I would eat one of those hot dogs; they tasted sooo good... I really miss laughing myself to tears with Courtney and the clan.... Sitting in the front of bus freshman year, crammed, trying to sleep, using Fumie as a pillow....Having a crush and a high school sweetheart through those years.....Just everything. I could go on for hours about my favorite memories.

Name: Chelsea Dynes
Email: masonchic001@aol.com
Years In Band: 2004-2008
Instrument Played: Color Guard
Personal Info: I am now studying marketing at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington.
Favorite Memory:  I would have to say that my favorite memory occurred during one of the winter guard practices my senior year. There was this moment towards the end of the show where all of the rifles lined up across the front of the tarp and threw sixes, catching them at port. At this one practice in particular the energy was so positive and everyone was smashing their rifles in unison and it was awesome. We all felt unified and it didn't matter anymore what the judges thought about us because we knew what we were capable of.
